UNESCO has recognized batik

Batik become part of the 76 arts and traditions from 27 countries who are recognized in the UNESCO list of Cultural Heritage Objects through a decision of the committee's 24 countries convened for five days in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and ended today, October 2, 2009. The trial was attended by 380 people, consisting of 93 representatives of members of the IGC, 147 observers from 33 countries party conventions, and 108 representatives from NGOs and cultural experts. Indonesian Batik is one of 111 nominees submitted to UNESCO by many countries. Subsidiary Body, which consists of six member states of the Intergovernmental Committee, has set Batik Indonesia as the best nominations, which can serve as an example for all the nominations at a later date.

By Iwan Tirta, a key to success in developing batik is on education and research. This is what is still lacking done. He himself continued to document the old batik motifs, including Castle's Mangkunegaran, Solo. The motive is to handle in developing new motifs according to the taste of the times.
